The key ingredient in successful career planning is parent and family involvement from an early age. We include extended family because in today's society, we have many non-traditional family structures.

We do not think that this task is an easy one, nor is it one that should be undertaken alone. Most middle and high schools have school counselors to help your child choose a career path.

People ask why someone should choose healthcare as a career and there are some really good reasons:

  • There are MANY options in healthcare - both clinical/hands on careers and then many careers that involve no patient care activities. Hospitals operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It takes many types of people in many different jobs to run a hospital around the clock.
  • It is an exciting, high tech career. Technology is always changing, there is always something new to learn.
  • healthcare is a secure career path - expectations are that healthcare jobs will outnumber qualified candidates for many years to come.
  • The monetary rewards are good - and healthcare jobs offer benefit packages similar to, or better than many businesses in the community.
  • Healthcare providers feel that they are part of a team - and not one lone individual in a job.
  • Scholarships and/or forgivable loans are more readily available for healthcare educational programs than many other degrees at this time.
  • The skills learned in one curriculum can be taken into many healthcare settings - from inpatient facilities, long term care facilities, physician offices, rural health clinics, mission work and so many more places.
